The club organizes lessons from time to time. Members with their own equipment also get together for informal group paddles throughout the season.
Our first event was a Level 1 sea kayaking course open to anyone age 16+, held June 18th and 19th. It was a hit!
During August we are happy to announce womens' only paddle clinics on August 6th (now full) and August 20th. There are two 6-person sessions each day, one 8am - 9:30am and the other 9:30 am -11am. Clinics are open to women and girls age 12+ and the cost is $10 per person. All equipment is provided. These clinics provide a welcoming environment to practice and improve kayaking strokes and are not attached to any certifications. To register, please create an account and a personal profile within that account at mySportHub.ca
The club will hold guided paddles of the harbour Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30pm. Additional paddle dates for August are the 10th and 17th! All gear and kayaks are provided and events are open to everyone in the community. Space is limited so all participants are asked to sign up on mySportHub.ca. Further details are also available on the SportHub website. These events are free of charge thanks in large part to our volunteer guides.
The contact point for all kayaking events is Claire (claire @ antigonishboatclub dot ca).
Stand Up Paddle Boarding
With it's protected waters, many shallow coves and charming islands, Antigonish Harbour is a perfect place to hone your paddle boarding skills. In 2018 and 2019, we hosted 2 demonstration days. Please follow our Facebook page for news of this season's events.
If you would like to receive emails about upcoming events, please consider becoming a club member. The fee is low and members will receive emails of any such events.
Paddling in the Harbour
Antigonish Harbour is a paddling paradise - with generally sheltered waters and numerous coves and islands to explore.
Paddle Antigonish Provides an introductory experience to canoeing in the Antigonish Area. For more information, contact Andrew Foran.
Outings are periodically arranged by community volunteers. Club members will be advised of such events when ever possible.
